“Voted Britain’s Best Cheese in the 2020 Virtual Cheese Awards, Feltham’s Farm’s Renegade Monk packs quite the punch, taking inspiration from the continent and adding to the vibrancy of the British cheese scene.

Marcus Fergusson’s bold approach – combining different attributes of soft white, blue and washed-rind cheeses – paid off. Hand-washed in ale during its maturing process, the cheese “will continue to develop in strength and flavour even whilst refrigerated.”

Challenging, but worth it!

by Carolyn Hopkins on 11 May 2021

A pungent, peachy coloured rind with occasional blue veining coming to the surface. The paste is pale gold, with a distinctive, powerful flavour – although usually vein less, the classically mineral flavour of the blue still comes through well, with the bitter, slightly musty hoppiness of the rind lingering pleasantly.
